A Biblical View of Health and Stewardship
Stewardship, Not Vanity
In today’s culture, fitness is often framed as vanity or self-obsession (and unfortunately, many have made it this way). But Scripture gives us a different lens — stewardship. “Moreover, it is required of stewards that they be found faithful.” — 1 Corinthians 4:2. Your body is not something to criticize or neglect. It is something entrusted to you by God. Caring for it is not about obsession with appearance, but about faithfulness.
At Dance With GracefullyLis, we teach women that fitness can be a spiritual discipline — one that strengthens the body so it can better serve God, family, and community.
Stewardship means:
Listening to your body
Moving consistently, not excessively
Prioritizing safety
Resting when needed
Choosing nourishment over punishment
Jesus Himself modeled balance. He moved, rested, and withdrew to pray.. “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.” — Mark 6:3
Practical Ways to Practice Health Stewardship
1. Choose movement that supports longevity. Dance cardio and stretch-based workouts support cardiovascular health, mobility, and joint care (and confidence!) — especially important for long-term wellness.
2. Pay attention to warning signs. Pain, dizziness, and exhaustion are signals, not badges of honor.
3. Fuel your body with intention. Eating and hydration are part of stewardship, not afterthoughts.
4. Make fitness sustainable. Consistency matters more than intensity.
“Let us not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest.” — Galatians 6:9
When women care for their bodies well, they often experience:
Increased energy for service
Improved mental clarity
Greater emotional resilience
Deeper gratitude toward God
Health doesn’t make us more worthy — it equips us to live more fully.
A Loving Reminder: You don’t need to do everything perfectly. You only need to be faithful with what you’ve been given.
